MARY GRACE SCULLY
Mary Grace Scully is a recent LA transplant from the East Coast. She grew up in Florida and spent the past 4+ years in NYC. She loves nothing more than bringing like-minded groups together to form friendships, and when she's not out being social, she's at home online shopping on Locker - the shopping startup she works for.
1. What are your hosting must haves?
Now that I've moved to LA and out of my tiny NYC apartment, I've come to love hosting! We typically host pre-games before dinners, and I think it's a must to have an interesting conversation piece that can be shared - whether it's a funky bottle of lychee wine that everyone is excited to try, a delicious cheese from a local shop, or even a funny cocktail napkin. Having something to direct people's attention towards as they arrive helps set the tone of excitement and curiosity. It never needs to be expensive, but it creates conversation and makes your guests feel honored that you put thought into hosting!
2. What's the best party you've ever been to?
The most memorable party I've ever attended was the 4AM SKIN x 818 party at the end of 2021. What made it the perfect night was the progression of excitement - my girlfriends and I met at Flower Shop first for espresso martinis, enjoyed a round of pool at their cheetah table, and snapped some pics at their photo booth. By 10 pm, we were jazzed and ready for their main event in the basement of a fun LES bar, where we were greeted with 818 hats, more espresso martinis (but with 818 ofc), and even 4AM SKIN products in the ice buckets at each table. The 4AM brand has mastered cool-girl exclusivity in a way that welcomes everyone to come as they are - so people came ready to make friends and smile together in the disposable cameras passed around.
3. what’s your go-to cocktail or Mocktail?
I love introducing friends to my drink of choice: the 50/50 martini. If you like the chic look of a martini, but don't want to knock back straight-up alcohol at the pre-game or night out, then this drink is for you. Shake 2 ounces of gin (I prefer gin infused with honey) and 2 ounces of Dry Vermouth in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into a cold martini glass and serve with a lemon peel. It's a sipper but not nearly as strong as a classic martini.
